The next meeting of the Indigenous Literatures Reading Group Bonn is taking place on 18th February 2020 at 6pm, in the Hausi Haus of the Alte VHS (the tiny house in the courtyard). Everyone who missed the first meeting is still more than welcome to join our group. On the 18th, we will continue to define our visions for the future of the reading group and work on an outline for our syllabus in summer 2020. We will also discuss events and things that have happened in the meantime (Chile Day, Indianer Inuit Film Festival, and more). About the group: The Indigenous Literatures Reading Group Bonn was founded in December 2019 in order to raise awareness for Indigenous issues, cultures, and histories by reading and discussing literatures by Indigenous authors from all around the globe, such as the Americas, Australia, and Aotearoa. Our engagement with different forms of literatures – which do not only comprise written texts – aims to facilitate critical and decolonial understandings of literature and history which continue to disproportionately exclude Indigenous peoples, their literatures and their histories. The Indigenous Literatures Reading Group Bonn understands itself as a safe space and does not tolerate (anti-Indigenous) racism, colonial mindsets, sexism, misogyny, queerphobia, and all other forms of discrimination.
