With 4,928 products from around 2,000 designers and companies, the number of entries in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 has reached a new all-time high. Never before was the Red Dot Gala booked out at such an early stage, and the guests are even more international than in the past.”
Laureates and guests will expect an exciting programme with exclusive cultural highlights. On the occasion of the Red Dot Gala, Denis Gäbel will play a medley of the songs “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars and “I Love It” by Icona Pop. With his distinctive sound, Denis Gäbel is one of the most valued saxophonists in Germany. He has already played with numerous international musicians and captivates his audience with modern and at the same time ageless jazz. Moreover, the renowned Aalto Ballett Essen will present scenes from “The Odyssey”. In the choreography by Patrick Delcroix a big topic in world literature will be staged impressively.
The honouring of the winners is the centre of the gala. They have proven “an unparalleled amount of creative power as well as extensive style and business skills” with their designs, emphasises Dr Peter Zec. This year, the joy on their success will be potentiated: “There is another reason for the very special mood that prevails amongst the deserving winners and ourselves in 2015: 60 years ago, in the summer of 1955, an independent jury convened in Essen for the first time to bestow awards upon the best contemporary product designs”, states the Red Dot CEO.
