We cordially invite you to join us for a WeberWorldCafé on “Transoceanic Cultures – The Sea in Past and Present” jointly curated by the Cluster Asia and Europe in a Global Context and the Max Weber Stiftung in cooperation with the Forum Transregionale Studien. At the WeberWorldCafé, we will discuss oceans as connectors and transregional spaces, rather than boundaries and distances to be overcome. Our experts from history, archaeology, art history, cultural studies and literary studies cover a wide array of chronologies and geographical regions. On six thematic tables, they will discuss with you questions such as: How can we study the oceans as historic spaces and why is it important? What are the challenges of studying ocean worlds – as they are often multi-lingual and multi-cultural? How have perceptions and imaginations of the ocean changed over time and across different world regions? It will take place on October 26th, 2.30 pm – 6 pm at the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (Voßstr. 2, Building 4400, 69115 Heidelberg). If you are interested in attending the event, please register your name via firstname.lastname@example.org until October 22nd, 2018! The event will take place in English. For further information on our exceptional format please visit our blog: http://wwc.hypotheses.org/ .
