DOOK DOOTSON

Having played under several other monikers including The Nuns and The Transients, it was parting ways with The Portlands that nudged Dook Dootson to take the plunge and go solo.

It was 8pm, the day before a booked studio session for the next Portlands release that the band broke up. He could either sit back and wallow or grab it by the heels and plough through. He sat down with his guitar and wrote two new songs – One Final Moment and Follow You, staying up through the night to finish the lyrics. Then, just 12 hours later, he grabbed his camera, his guitar and his amp and drove for two hours to North Wales to meet producer Tom Loffman.

The two had never met before, but struck up an immediate musical bond – now playing keys on the upcoming European tour. Dook played through the tracks and they began - recording all the instruments themselves, with no other band members. After two recording sessions at Bryn Derwen, Wales and two mixing sessions at Kings Crossing, London, a new EP - ‘A Path To Trace’ was born.

MIWI LA LUPA

Song hound MiWi La Lupa is a dreamer, a far-fetched being whose human core is as gentle and endearing as his voice. In 2005, MiWi made it down the Hudson River from Buffalo to the city of New York. A decade later, he has made impactful impressions as a singer-songwriter, a session musician and multi-instrumentalist in bands such as Knights on Earth, Red Baraat and Thought. Now in the spotlight with his solo endeavor, MiWi La Lupa and his wolf pack create melodies that stitch a seamless foundation for his wistful prose. The core band is built of NYC friends and comrades Tim Allen (Guitar), Jesske Hume (Bass and Vocals) and Conor Elmes (Drums). Evolving from his familiarity with classical, sacred, and improvisational music, MiWi has taken a giant step away from his conservatory training, and into the world of folk with his 2014 debut album “A New Way Home” on Team Love Records. Mainly writing about the grief of a loved one that strayed too far, La Lupa is able to pull at the heartstrings and create an engulfing experience for listeners, an experience that has been said to be “trance like” (HearNebraska). MiWi La Lupa approaches the Fall of 2015 with the yet unreleased record titled ‘Ended Up Making Love’, a documentary of the recording process, and a plan to record an EP with supplementary songs. With ‘Ended Up Making Love’, La Lupa explores the redemption of self and by challenging inner inhibitions he takes a dive in the deep end, leaving listeners nothing short of a welcoming sonic experience. Though the future holds no promise, MiWi La Lupa’s ambition and ethical dedication to his music remains inspiring to all whom encounter.
