Join the USO on a day trip to learn about some of the castle in our local area, along the Rhein and Mosel Rivers! We start our day with a leisurely trip along the right bank of the Rhein River, where you can view a number of castles and ruins in the famous Rhein Middle Valley. We then stop in Braubach for a visit to Marksburg Castle, the only hill castle on the Rhine that has never been destroyed. It has been lived in for over 700 years and thus represents an ever-changing and developing building complex. Following the tour, there will be some free time in Braubach for you to get lunch, before we continue our way along the Rhein to Koblenz, where the Rhein and Mosel Rivers meet. We then visit Burg Eltz, a small castle build to help protect the travel routes in the area. Due to the location, the only way to expand the castle was to build up—making for a unique and beautiful architecture. Bring Euros for meals and purchase, wear comfortable walking shoes—and don’t forget your camera! Tour price includes transportation, along with entry fees and tours for Marksburg and Eltz castles. Please Note: The castles cannot accommodate strollers.
