Visit some of the lesser known sights in the Heidelberg area with the USO. Our tour by train starts in Leutershausen, where we visit the pilgrimage church containing a statue of a Black Madonna, said to bring about miracles. We then travel to Schriesheim, where we walk through the old city and visit the co-op wine store. The third stop is Handschuhsheim, where we visit St. Vitus, the oldest church in Heidelberg, which contains some beautiful 15th century frescoes. We then walk to the “hidden castle” of Heidelberg, the Tiefberg and learn about its mysterious history. Finally, we visit the beautiful Kloster Neuburg monastery before returning back to Wiesbaden. Bring Euros for meals and purchases, and don’t forget your camera!
